every time writers are like...IT WAS PLANNED ALL ALONG....99.9% of the time that's a TOTAL LIE!

I kind of feel that though. As I try to write longer stuff I mostly just randomly think of scenes I should include, or I write something random then I'm like "that would actually fit really well within my story" or I accidentally create some tension or a plot hole then have to write something else to fix it.

But yeah I feel like even TV writers don't know exactly where they're going sometimes.

Well...I feel like if generally if you're going to write a plot twist or some big plot development...you should know what the end result is going to be. So many times writers are like "HERE"S THE BIG TWIST" and then they don't know how to develop it properly. I mean...have you ever watched Lost?

Oh yeah you have to know what's going on with the big stuff at least! I've never seen Lost (it's on my list though!) but I can think of a couple other shows that bungled big twists.
