Dawson’s Creek grad James Van Der Beek is joining the cast of Mercy in the major recurring role of Liam West [name has been changed to Joe Briggs], the hospital’s new ICU chief, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Cocky, womanizing, and manipulative, Dr. West [Briggs] will frequently clash with Sands, Harris, and the nurses. But beneath the alpha-male swagger lies a brilliant MD whose primary goal is to make Mercy Hospital money. The new doc is also hiding a deep, dark secret.

Word has it that Van Der Beek could become a series regular if the character clicks.

James has left LA for NY to begin filming (January 5th 2010)

As of right now, James will be in 8 episodes of "Mercy", pending extention

James will appear in his first episode of "Mercy" on February 3, 2010

I totally forgot that his name is "Joe"

They always just call him "Briggs". That's fine with me though

He doesn't seem like a "Joe". That's like "your average Joe" saying. Briggs is nothing near average!

I voted 10 times. I think the show might still have a chance yet if that game show flops. There are still more episodes left this season to maybe get more fans also.

Horrible week this week. In desperate need of James therapy. What a week for Mercy not to be on

That may be a good idea

just as long as they don't move it to monday (when OTH is on) or thursday (when vampire diaries is on). Tuesday works for me.

That would help a lot though getting it on a night where it can pick up American Idol viewers.

This had been confusing me. James and KB keep saying that AI is on during the same time as Mercy. It must be like that on the west coast, but it's not on the east coast. On Wednesdays, Mercy is at 8pm on NBC and Human Target is at 8pm on FOX. American Idol is on at 9pm on FOX on Wednesdays for us. moving to tuesday would be good for me but not for Mercy. here AI is on from 8-10pm on Tuesdays

I've been trying to create a James buzz on various postings and write about him/Mercy. I think the more press he gets the better chances the show has. Great show.
