You didn't know that, Rita?
Yeah, Steven Spielberg originally suggested Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones after how impressed he was with him as Han Solo in Star Wars. His exact words to George Lucas were, "So, how about Harrison?" But Lucas rejected the idea, saying he didn't want to be one of those filmmakers who always works with the same actors, like Scorsese and DeNiro. So Tom Selleck was approached to play the role of Indiana Jones. However, Selleck had a commitment to a TV pilot he'd just done for a new show called Mangum, P.I., and told them that if the network didn't pick up the show he'd be free to work on Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Selleck didn't actually think that CBS would pick up the show, but they did, and Selleck ended up contractually obligated to work on the first season of Magnum, P.I. and wasn't allowed to work on any other projects. So with Tom Selleck being forced to drop out of the movie due to contractual obligations to CBS and the studio, Lucas and Spielberg were left without an actor to play Indiana Jones. That's when Spielberg turned to Lucas and said... "So, how about Harrison?"
