Beautiful, aren't they? :) Funny how Lucas' Coruscant looks a lot like Ridley's Los Angeles 2019. ;) Only Ridley Scott made Blade Runner the year before Return of the Jedi.

Yes, it looks great. Scott did a great job on the setting. And no CGI!

Exactly! That's why I wish that Lucas had shown us Coruscant in Return of the Jedi, because not only was it perfectly possible to do using Industrial Light & Magic's technology, but it probably would've looked better than the CGI version. ;) If Ridley Scott and Douglas Trumbull could do it, surely Lucas and ILM could.

Lucas is so proud of his CGI and it's the worst CGI ever. In ROTS he even made the live action people look like CGI, due to his awful visual style.

PhoenixRising 10-11-2019 04:50 PM

I know. :( He was just barfing up CGI in those first two movies, and he admitted that The Matrix beat him in the special effects department. I do think that Revenge of the Sith was more restrained and had better CGI. Attack of the Clones was painful to watch.

sum1 10-12-2019 11:24 AM

ROTS was Lucas's worst film ever.

PhoenixRising 10-12-2019 05:05 PM

Okay, well I still think it was better than Phantom and Clones.

But my point is that Ridley's Los Angeles in Blade Runner is still iconic and blows away Coruscant. So I think that Lucas could've done Coruscant in ROTJ in 1983 since Blade Runner came out in 1982.

sum1 10-13-2019 04:40 AM

Phantom Menace was way better than ROTS, and Clones was distinctly better too. ROTS was a horribly messed up film and I don't how anybody could reasonably see it as better than the other two. The Prequels went downhill with every new film. Phantom Menace was by far the best of them.

PhoenixRising 10-13-2019 04:29 PM

Really? Okay. I couldn't stand Phantom Menace, but oh well.

sum1 10-13-2019 07:41 PM

I couldn't stand ROTS.
