Yeah, the writing will be the determining factor. High hopes for the pilot and hopefully low turnover.

It needs to be consistent. Not always easy for mystery shows, but I hope it can manage it.

I agree, it has a good chance of starting out strong because of the premise. It will all boil down to the SL and characters/acting.

I have high hopes for the writing and mysteries too. The problem with those types of show is that if they go on too long story lines tend to go messy but we'll see how it goes with Manifest.

I think the suggestion that the writers have an ending in mind (by their saying it's a series long mystery) is a good thing. If they know where they want to go, they have to stay more focused.

But, also, if it has an ending point in mind, don't drag and let the show end when it needs to.

It's better to finish earlier than drag it out and ruin the show.

Yep. Hopefully they know how long they'll need. They need to solve the mystery by that point, and then consider whether or not they can continue after that. If it's best not to, don't.

And that too. I heard Lost didn't have an ending in mind and that the writers just went with the flow. I don't know if that was true though?

They claimed they ended it how they planned it from the start but I find that hard to believe, especially considering what a mess the finale season was.

You can't go with the flow if you have an ending in mind because everything has to work to that ending.

Same. I don't believe that either.

Does NBC announce renewals early especially if the show is doing really well with the ratings?

I'm not sure. Not with any show that I watch, that I've seen.
