Watched four episodes and kinda agree. It's alright but not amazing.

I think it has pacing and tonal issues. Almost halfway through the season and I feel like the plot has barely advanced. Having difficulty getting invested because I can't tell when the show is being serious or not; sometimes it's straight drama, most of the time it feels like a dark comedy. Not feeling the main romance either.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't really get into The Order. I tried it & gave up after two episodes. It just didn't grab me.
Just finished the Ricky Gervais series After Life. I enjoyed it, it's about a man who wants to kill himself, which can be somewhat depressing but it's dark humor and the characters are quirky. |

When I watched the trailer, I got the impression the subject of the show makes it dated, it's something I would have expected about a decade ago, not now. Does this make sense?

I read a review that compared it to Buffy and The Craft.
Up to episode six. I was really looking forward to this show but man it's terrible. The world doesn't make sense and a lot of dumb things happen. The main character is bland and kind of a jerk. The romantic subplot between the two leads makes me cringe. I am interested in the heroic werewolf Knights who stand against the dark magicians of the titular Order, but they are piteously ineffectual. Max Martini delivers a decent performance as the Order's leader and the main antagonist though. __________________

The ending seems to pissed off a lot of viewers. Don't know how the werewolves can recover from what happened, but hopefully they do, because the Knights are the best part of the show.
If they get another season they should just fully embrace the humour, maybe even camp it up a little. The sudden tonal shifts between drama and comedy were jarring. This show was most enjoyable when it was having fun with itself. More tongue-in-cheek self-awareness would help a lot. x The Order is really just a college comedy, except the fraternities and sororities are a murderous coven of dark magicians and an alcohol-loving pack of werewolves. __________________

fwiw the oa is a hard show to enjoy, especially when i was watching american gods last night, and american gods, even though there was a host of changes, is easy to watch
theres just something about the OA that just doesnt click with me Although brit marling is trying something different for a change, ie dropping her central narrative- point of focus/ story teller role a bit more in the new episodes, its a bit messy to watch in general __________________
