They probably can. I have to say I'd be more interested in following more of Willowdean's story than of the side characters. But it all depends on how it would be done.

It would be great if a sequel focused on her relationship with Bo. We didn't find out much about him. The actor mentioned in an interview that they filmed more scenes with Bo and we would have met his mom but they decided it didn't fit the story as it should focus primarily on Willowdean.

The second book is about the supporting characters, including Millie Michalchuk who went to fat camp every yer since she was little.

Millie is someone I wouldn't mind knowing more about. I liked her.

I liked her too and I'm sure they can make the movie as engaging as the first one if there is a sequel planned, I was just assuming they'd do another movie about Willowdean. But hey, it'll be refreshing if they focus on the other characters.

There were no ott rude or mean characters which was also a nice change, movies like Dumplin often focus too much on the negative people.

Yeah, I'm glad there were no long-lasting petty fights, there were some whispers but they kept it short and in the background.
