Yes. It’s kinda confusing.
 Original movie: Wet Hot American Summer came out in the theaters in 2001. Wasn’t very well received, but became a cult classic. Movie takes place over one day, on the last day of a summer camp in 1981 (a lot of adult actors played teenagers). No Chris. Netflix Original Series: Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp premieres on Netflix July 31, 2015. 8 episode series about the first day of the summer camp in 1981. So, each episode is like a couple of hours of the day. Chris plays a new character that is introduced & has most of his scenes with Elizabeth’s character. He supposedly disappears, that’s why he’s not mentioned in the movie, which takes place 3 months later.  He appears in 5/8 episodes.Netflix Original Series: Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later premieres on Netflix August 4, 2017. Like other series, 8 episodes, but takes place 10 years later from the original movie, so the year is 1991 (at the end of the movie, the characters discuss having reunion & meeting up again 10 years later, hence this series. ) I have not seen this one yet, so not sure if this one takes place in one day like its predecessors (I would assume so). Not sure how Chris ties in to this one (since haven’t seen), but he appears in 4/8 episodes.Still confused? Just tried to wrap up the whole franchise in a nice little bow for you.  Not sure if they’ll do anymore series’ or not...  |
