Best to read comics before the New 52 nonsense that got rebooted out of history months ago.

I'll go for comics BEFORE 2011. Since the comics now are sort of continuing from that year while trying to erase all the New 52 storylines......

Than you have the Silver Age comics
The New Era comics
The Golden Age.

I think it all depends on the character you want to read about.

That is the question isn't it - is there standalone Black Canary and same with Harley Quinn - or no solo but combined with others

ETA remembered about two others that would be intriguing for me that not sure if could without needing further but Birds of Prey and|or The Joker|Harley related to is there something affiliated to Arkham?

Oh or The Rogue's or hell considering how much I loved Suicide Squad

Poison Ivy she's one that has always intrigued me too - Uma's version from Batman and Robin plus the version that is currently on Gotham from what I've seen is also interesting - half a season behind
