Ben is "passing on the cowl" because Matt Reeves' film is set before The events of Man of Steel.

There's also a strong likelihood, IMO, that we see Ben return to the role for a Justice League follow-up at some point, even with that film having lost money.

I'm kind of in the same mindset. He wouldn't be producing and promoting it if he wasn't still involved in the DCEU in some way. I think this is going to focus on a younger Batman/Bruce.

i am sick of reboots and prequels, when you haven't even established the continuity of the present Batman. there should be a Batfleck Bats trilogy before you do other stuff like prequels and alternate universe/realities/timelines. ugh.

^ You can't establish who Affleck's Bruce is without going backwards due to the nature of the character's story.
