Can someone explain to me why at the moment Italy pulls through and not Croatia?

too bad the referee didn't decide on a penalty for croatia..

edit: it's because italy scored 2:2 against croatia and spain combined, and atm croatia and spain only 1:1. and because s and c are equal, their games against ireland get included again, and spain had a higher win against them. hope it's not gonna be decided by this, far too complicated

Amendment to page 9, Paragraph 8.07 as per UEFA EURO 2012 Information Letter n°17 / 2012

8.07 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following
criteria are applied to determine the rankings:
a) Higher number of points obtained in the matches played between the teams in
question;
b) Superior goal difference resulting from the matches played between the teams in
question (if more than two teams finish equal on points);
c) Higher number of goals scored in the matches played between the teams in question
(if more than two teams finish equal on points);
d) If, after having applied criteria a) to c), two teams still have an equal ranking,
criteria a) to c) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the two teams
in question to determine the final rankings of the two teams. If this procedure
does not lead to a decision, criteria e) to i) apply in the order given;
e) superior goal difference in all group matches;
f) higher number of goals scored in all group matches;
g) position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system (see annex I, paragraph
1.2.2);
h) fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament);
i) drawing of lots

And if Spain-Croatia draw 1-1 Italy would have to win 3-1 or higher because then all the goal differences between them would be the same again and I think then the games with Ireland count again and it's the most goals scored in all the games And if they draw 2-2 or higher Italy is automatically out because they can't change their goal difference in the games that count anymore. God this is confusing but I think I understood it now
