Jessica DubéღBryce Davison #3: Because they're back to 'The Way They Were'!
Latest updates; Jessica and Bryce have withdrawn from Skate Canada due to an injury on Bryce's knee, which required surgery. According to reports, everything went well but it's uncertain how long Bryce's recovery will take. Bryce Davison; Date of Birth: January 29, 1986 Nationality: Canadian Height: 178 cm (5’10’’) Skates in: Jackson skates Club: Drummondville CPA: Drummondville, QC, Canada Coach: Annie Barabé, Sophie Richard, Yvan Desjardins Hobbies: Ice hockey, snowboarding and wakeboarding. Jessica Dubé; Date of Birth: October 29, 1987 Nationality: Canadian Height: 158 cm (5’2’’) Skates in: Jackson skates Club: Drummondville CPA: Drummondville, QC, Canada Coach: Annie Barabé, Sophie Richard, Yvan Desjardins Hobbies: Shopping and photography. Jessica Dubé and Bryce Davison first started skating together in 2003, as juniors. Despite a language barrier –Jessica was francophone, Bryce could only speak English –there was an instant connection. "We couldn't speak each other's languages --we just knew what the other was thinking on the ice. All it took was a glance at each other's eyes and we knew what was going on." ~ Bryce Davison Soon that instant connection developed into a relationship. However, Dubé and Davison promised each other one thing: Skating first. In 2005 the pair advanced to the senior level, and just a year later, they qualified for a spot on the Canadian Olympic team. "What makes us unique is our chemistry. If we can bring what we do best, and what those other guys don't necessarily do, it will help us move up." ~ Jessica Dubé. However, 2007 was less fortunate for them. The pair had just come back after a break in which Jessica had knee surgery, when, in the Four Continents Competition, they got too close on a camel spin, Bryce’s skate hitting Jessica’s left cheek and nose, and leaving a gash that required over 80 stitches to close. "In pairs skating where the man is supposed to be the protector, and protect his partner, I had to deal with the guilt. It wasn't anything where we fell on a lift or anything like that. I hit her." ~ Bryce Davison "He saw my face and had bad memories. Making sure Bryce knew it wasn't his fault, that's what we worked on." ~ Jessica Dubé "I didn't think about the skating too much, just whether she was going to be OK."~ Bryce Davison "I didn't learn too much but it definately reaffirmed a few things that I already knew about her. That she was supertough, strong and uh, s... she just... she's an incredible partner and an incredible pairskater and my best friend, so..." ~ Bryce Davison The pair proved to be strong, as they were back in competition, just a month later, at the World Championship, fearlessly performing the same spin that had caused one of the scariest figure skating accidents in years. The misfortune wasn’t over just yet, however, as the couple decided to break up in 2008. This badly influenced the partnership and collaboration, and even had Bryce thinking about quitting. “I can’t see myself skating with another partner. It [skating and the 2010 Olympics] is our mutual dream.” ~ Jessica Dubé Things only went downhill from there on. Their results in the 2008-2009 were visibly influenced by their personal life. It wasn’t until the new season started, Jessica and Bryce seemed to recapture their form. The chemistry that had been lacking the season before, was now undeniably back, and so showed their results. “I think we figured something out this year. I mean, that working as a team is uh... helps a lot and we see a big difference, I mean... everything is just way easier.” ~ Jessica Dubé "Their connection on the ice is so strong. Everyone in the audience can get a feel for their love for each other on the ice as a pair." ~ American skater Keauna McLaughlin, rivalling Dubé and Davison with partner Rockne Brubaker. Full of confidence the pair headed to the 2010 Olympics, organised in their home country. They didn’t skate the programs they had hoped for, neither got the results, but even then, their chemistry kept growing and there is no doubt that they’ll be back next season, stronger than ever. "She knows more about me than anyone else on the planet. I can always talk to her about problems... oddly enough, even when the problems are with her." ~ Bryce Davison “I trust him so I can do whatever I want up there. I’m not going to be scared.’’~ Jessica Dubé The 2010-2011 season started off badly. Jessica and Bryce where the favourites to win Skate Canada, but during practise Bryce injured his right knee and had to undergo surgery. Doctors said it's unsure when he will be able to resume practise, and his injury might even be career-ending. 2004-2005 season; Short: Hasta Que te Conoci Long: Romeo and Juliet Exhibition: My immortal 2005-2006 season; Short: Hasta Que te Conoci Long: Piano Concerto No.7 Exhibition: Endless love 2006-2007 season; Short: Galicia Flemenca Long: Blower’s daughter Exhibition: Blower’s daughter 2007-2008 season; Short: Galicia Flemenca Long: Blower’s daughter Exhibition: Blower’s daughter 2008-2009 season; Short: Fix you Long: Carmen Exhibition: On fire 2009-2010 season; Short: Requiem for a dream Long: The way we were Exhibition: Fix you 2010-2011 season; Short: The mask of Zorro Long: The way we were Exhibition: ? 2003-2004 season; Junior Grand Prix Final: 1st Junior Canadian Championships: 1st Junior World Championships: 2nd 2004-2005 season; Junior World Championships: 2nd 2005-2006 season; Canadian Championships: 2nd Olympic Wintergames: 10th 2006-2007 season; Canadian Championships: 1st 2007-2008 season; Skate America: 1st NHK Trophy: 3nd Skate Canada: 2nd Canadian Championships: 2nd World Championships: 3rd 2008-2009 season; NHK Trophy: 3rd Skate Canada: 2nd Canadian Championships: 1st Four Continents: 2nd 2009-2010 season; TEB: 2nd Skate Canada: 3rd Canadian Championships: 1st Olympic Wintergames: 6th CTV Olympics: Dubé, Davison can't afford a single slip. And we have some news to start off the new thread : Canadian Champs Star in NEW Skate Canada Commercial
Looks like Jess’ hair is quite long. I didn’t like her hair as short as it was last summer. And Bryce HAS hair now! |
