There is just something so wrong about this story...

Quote:
Schumi’s decision baffles Barrichello

Michael Schumacher’s decision to continue racing in 2004 has surprised his team-mate Rubens Barrichello who thought the German would have chosen to quit after winning his sixth World title.

Schumacher, who entered Formula One with Jordan in 2001, became the first driver to ever win six titles when he clinched the 2003 Drivers’ Championship. However, instead of retiring as many thought he would he has chosen to fulfil his extended Ferrari contract, and will remain with the Scuderia until the end of the 2006 season.

His choice has baffled Barrichello, who believes he himself would have opted to quit if he’d been the one to break the record for the number of titles won.

"If it was me I know what I would do," Barrichello told Sporting Life. “But I don't know what goes through his mind. If he still has the will to race, the will to win, then he should continue racing."
And.....since you asked...

FRENCH GP STILL IN TROUBLE
Last Updated: Saturday, 20 December , 2003, 14:59

The French Grand Prix is in doubt again, just hours after it seemed a rescue plan had been agreed.

Regional politicans vetoed financial plans just hours after the French Motorsports Association (FFSA) claimed the race had been saved.

The future of the race looked safe when the FFSA announced on Friday that they had sent the necessary financial guarantees to Formula One Management that would see the event go ahead.

But it later emerged that politicians on the Burgundy regional council, where Magny Cours is based, had blocked the authority's 2004 budget, thus undoing the FFSA's financial pledges.

Opposition politician Jean-Pierre Soissson said: "In refusing the budget for 2004, the left wing and the National Front together have rejected the plan to ensure the French Grand Prix."

"It is a bad blow for Magny Cours and for Burgundy."

French GP organisers still have until the end of the month to make good the financial guarantees necessary for the raced to be held.

If the race goes ahead, it will swell the F1 calendar to 18 events, one more than the teams are contracted to compete in, thus meaning they will have to be compensated.

fla have you finished school for the year yet?

Linds March 7 is THE DAY!!! the thread title by the way. Very cool.

Thanks for the news bigspam and for the pics of Heidi as well. I have never seen her before in my lfe and I can now say that

As if there was any doubt that Michael would be retiring now. There has been no hint of retirement. It would be worth so much for him to continue driving next year and then seeing how he feels at the end of the '04 season.

hey all

lindsay - i clicked the sig so now i've read your LJ and I am going to friend u and now I'm thinking of putting all my entries back to friends only cos I don't like to think that anyone who goes on my desktop and goes through my links could find my entries
ok so my link is also on my sig on the name Alonso pretty convenient given the title of my LJ "The Art of Being Mrs Alonso"

Bel (forgets what she was going to say) ARGH i've even read the page and I can't even remember what it was
I think that Michael might actually leave it too late before he retires. it would be a shame if that happened though because some ppl will remember him for not being so good instead of remembering him for how great he was.
