I definitely thought he had his hand on the Canadian [Tremblay?] for longer than necessary. I mean, I don't know much about speed skating, but it definitely didn't seem right to me as it was happening.

Judgment call on the ref's part(like pass interference in the NFL/CFL). Apolo just barely touched Tremblay on the last corner and Tremblay fell down into the padded wall. The South Korean skater also fell(looked like Charles Hamelin got away with a push but the Korean grabbed Hamelin's skate at the same time), and Apolo would have gotten silver.

Team USA did win bronze in the relay behind Canada and South Korea, so Team USA has 34 medals, tying the most ever by the USA in the Winter Olympics.

Personally, I don't think it's a big deal and I don't blame them for not apologizing/caving to the IOC, but, because they didn't apologize/cave, if we're holding every Olympic athlete/country to the same standard that had Scotty Lago being sent home due to the imminent IOC scrutiny the US was to face if he wasn't, it's only fair they actually get "investigated" -- even if only a girl or two was underage.

He impeded and caused Tremblays fall, so of course he's going to be DQed. In the case of Hamelin touching the Korean the Korean was already falling at the time and got in Hamelins way causing that.

& on the subject of hockey, the Americans best not be expecting the same game as last time. My boys are back - no idea wtf happened those first couple of games - and my bb Luuuu is on fire

This is not even true in the slightest. Apollo clearly impeded and even slightly cross tracked Tremblay in the process of passing causing Tremblay to fall. The Korean was ALREADY tripping and fell into Hamelins path and to balance himself his hand went up slightly. There was no pushing on Hamelins part, his hand just ended up on his back for a second. Where in Apollos case you could clearly see him causing Tremblay to fall.

Trust me, hands end up on other skaters often. It is unavoidable in tight corners when one falls on his own. DQ's only come when the touching is the cause of the skater falling or getting knocked off course.

Hamelin didn't push him, they showed it a few times here. The Korean fell on his own and the only time you see Hamelin hand near him is when he is trying not to fall over himself after the Korean falls.
