Guys, it's been a hard day. My grandmother has so many health issues. One being Alzheimer's. It is getting really bad. She went to the hospital for another reason but when she got there she had a really bad episode. She is the most docile and gentle women you would ever meet. But it is tearing that away. She was kicking and screaming and threatening to kill everyone. Saying she will find where they live and burn their house down. It is so hard to watch happen. I know this is not what we have been talking about in here. But it is still something similar. And I had to say something or I would break.

Lee This is a safe place for everyone, having to watch a relative go through something as terrible, while they can't really do anything and are helpless, can affect their mental state. Sorry you have to go through this.

Thanks. It's so hard. I love her, but we can do nothing. And it's only going to get worse says the doctors.

That's the hardest part, not being able to help. Sounds like you can find support within your family and don't have to deal with this alone.

Not really. My father and I have a really bad relationship and mother is not really talking about it.

Oh, sorry to hear that. Somehow misread your posts. Do you have any close person you can talk to, a friend?

I only really have one good friend irl. We haven't talked about it.

So sorry, Lee. one of the hardest things in those situations is watching them become someone you know they are not. What do the doctors tell y'all to do? Have you talked to your therapist/counselor about this?

There is nothing to do. There is nothing that could really help her other than sedatives. It hasn't been this bad. So I never brought it up. But yesterday it really hit me hard.

Yea. We had to check her into a nursing home. She has become to much for my grandfather to handle.

I know that's hard too, Lee. But hopefully it's a great nursing home, and she is good there. Is it a nursing home or assisted living? Both usually have a memory ward for anyone who has a memory thing so they have no ways of escaping. But they take them outside and everything while supervised, so they don't stay inside all day. Still hard, but maybe that will help you have a little more peace of mind.
