I didn't like Stefan for ages, found him blah and boring. But after he broke up with Elena he really came onto his own and became a far more complex and interesting character.
I adore Damon but Stefan is my fave male from TVD. Damon being the bad brother with a heart was expected but Stefan being the good brother with a dark past for me was less expected. Plus the fact that Stefan is an alcoholic vampire really resonates with me, not the vamp part obviously. He's the one I connect with most and the one I'm most similar to on the show. When he says "you don't get it, I can't stop. A ripper doesn't stop" reminded me of battles I've had with addiction, in this crazy supernatural world there are little moments when you connect with them on a human level. This was it for me. __________________
