Yes it was surely snubbed at the oscars bc the director is female and they don't nominate women's movies.

They aren't really serious never were, they just can help actors get better roles, but are not necessarily a quality indicator, bc they were originally created so that big film companies could pet themselves on the shoulders by having their movies nominated for some big award every year, this year they made some exceptions though like with parasite which is not from a big american film company.

If you like awards that really go after quality then it's cannes, venice or berlin film festival. They honour quality independently from how much money they get offered by actors or companies.

^ yep agreed with everything and very well explained Gabriel. Cannes and such events are really more serious. and with the Oscars, it's mostly these typical Hollywood productions. that's why i was so happy that Parasite won!
