I'll explain it away with Wes (and Dwight) was in that area before that huge storm hit so he was able to move on when the roads/bridge or whatever were still intact. And he's been painting trees ever since the apocalypse started just as Al has been filming everything.

Or, his motorcycle was narrow enough to navigate through the cars blocking the road.

But yeah, another huge coincidence that he just happened to pass through the radioactive zone area and paint a tree and is still around near their old/new denim factory location to meet them months later.

They probably don't care about fear anymore, with declining ratings the show becomes less and less important. They once fired dave erickson bc of low ratings and a "bad concept" in season 2-3, yet the concept was pretty great actually, especially in season 3 and the ratings way have been lower in season 3 than in the first two, but they still were much higher than this season. They were at 2-3 mio viewers per episode as opposed to 1.3-1.4 mio viewers per ep right now.

Amc has only very few shows these days so yes. But it's no way comparable to twd or breaking bad in terms of ratings. Even their wild west show hell on wheels had better ratings, similar to ftwd when erickson was still around.
