Hopefully

I bet He went a bit off the rails toward the end of S2. Those pills he was taking def didn't help.

But he needed them though it was the only way he could get through killing people, that's why the withdrawals hit him hard at Sona, he was a mess in court later when he is released for a bit

For the series yes its been announced but they don't have to announce if they want to try to get him for an episode or two
