I wonder why the director chose to show us Richard's hump on the first lines

Perhaps for the same reason as the change in Hamlet.
Remember in the first version of Hamlet the "to be or not to be" speech was moved to the very beginning. Of course it's not moved, it's the actual opening lines but i feel like it's to get it out of the way.If you see it immediately, you're not going to wonder about it later and can focus on the play itself immediately instead of thinking "how are they going to depict it? When it is going to show?"....
