I'm just disappointed we didn't get more between these two. They had such a rich and exciting to watch relationship.

I thought their development was very realistic. Neal still loved his father but couldn't bring himself to trust him until Rumple proved he could be trusted. I know some Rumple fans thought Neal was unfair, but I think his reactions were very understandable.

It would have been interesting to see how their relationship evolved further after 3A. Too bad we'll never get to see that.

I agree - I think they were really cheated out of more development in Neal's adult years.

This relationship was stoked in bittersweet tragedy. Because when you analyze both father and son from their individual perspectives, you get exactly where each is coming from. Bae felt abandoned when his father refused to leave with him and he had to spend all those years living with that reality. Alone. Meanwhile, Rumple immediately lived to regret his decision but something Bae was not able to see for himself. He was so desperate, he did some awful things in the name of love to get back to his son. But when they finally come face to face, love is there on both ends but it is submerged under all those feelings of loss, anger, and desperation.

It would have been nice to see Neal explored more.

TBH anything really, I wanted to show them having a proper father and son relationship, we were finally getting there when Bae was taken away

I hope we hear Rumple discuss Baelfire soon on the show. He has more clarity now so I'd like to hear an extensive discussion or monologue about his son.
