I saw it! So good!

It's kind of remarkable that this was Robert's first time directing a film. I would say he is more talented than many directors who do this for a living.

Definitely award winning.

I can't help but be disappointed that Robert said he won't direct anymore, but I can understand that since he didn't really enjoy the whole process he wouldn't want to do it again.

And Emma Thompson...wow!

She was amazing!

Yep, it was a great debut as a director (it helps to work with top professional actors who know what to do and have insights on their characters). Maybe he'll reconsider in the future, without being also the lead of the film or when OUAT's done. I think most of all it was the doing both at the same time that must have been quite stressful.

and wasn't it a great director début

, he did look like Robert had been directing for years they way he approached the project

, love the shots he chose and getting great performances from the actors , particularly from Emma

I just don't think he liked the mechanical process of it, though - I think he loved working with people. Unfortunately, the former goes with the latter.

Barney was a phenomenal film - and I could watch it multiple times. That twist, the end shot!

I thought Bobby was absolutely brilliant and deserved far more notice for his performance than he got; Barney is a mercurial character and Bobby flipped the switch so often and so easily........ He's also a wonderful director, encouraging to his cast, trusting them..... I can't wait to see it in theaters!

I know that there are more books of Barney's adventures, I hope we see Barney again one day in a cinema..

Really just trying to avoid new OUAT related stuff until the season ends so I don't come to FF much anymore. But I can definitely make more of an effort to visit this forum more.

And yes Meggy, I agree. Robert will probably reconsider his decision to not direct anymore once OUAT ends. The fact that his editing process took several months instead of a few weeks because he had to do it while filming OUAT sounded terrible. If he doesn't have to go through that again, he would probably be more open to it.

indeed, I bet he didn't know whether he was coming or going some of time....

I hope he directs more when he has more time

It is Movies, and I think the USA date is in March, but you can get it on ITunes as well
