I hope no-one here is in the path of Hurricane Michael. You seem to be having one big storm after another this year. :(
|
My house is going to get some drenching rain and high winds (again). But I'm not there and the house got through Florence just fine, so I'm sure it will get through Michael. :fingers_crossed:
|
Fingers crossed! I'm sure it'll be fine.
Tomorrow is my first day in weeks where I'm not doing anything. Friend was like "what are your plans tomorrow?" and when I said "nothing" she was like "do you wanna-" No. I have plans. They are to do nothing. I am going nowhere. |
A day doing nothing is a great plan. I wish you brilliant success!
|
I have positive feelings about it.
|
Sorry for going AWOL again. Life's been busy between work, class, surgery prep, etc.
Since there's only a few shows I'm interested in that's on current TV, I started watching a show on Netflix called "Heartland" and have been addicted since the first episode. :) It's a Canadian show based on a family that lives on a ranch, and they nurse horses for a living. It's a fantastic show. :) |

I read the books years and years before the show came out and I found pretty much all the characters insufferable eventually so I never started the show. Though I think I quit the series with 3 books left...so now I'm thinking I should just go read the last ones to know how it ends.
|
The show is a bit soap-opera like and some of the characters - especially the younger ones - tend to be somewhat one-dimensional. But I loved the scenery and the horses, so I was willing to overlook the failings of the human element.
|
Well I am all kinds of tired. Woke up at 6am Friday morning, it is ~3:45pm Saturday and how much has Nicole slept? An hour and a half. Providing I can get to sleep by four, I'll have six hours before work tonight, which would add up to seven and a half hours between 6am Friday and 4pm Sunday.

This Heartland conversation just amuses me so much because it's been a solid 10-12 years since I've given that series more than a passing thought and now people I didn't even know back then are discussing it.

My favorite character on the show is the vet, Scott Cardinal. I really wanted he and Lou to work out. |

Also - either I really need to read the last few books or the series goes differently than the book because I swear Lou and Scott ended up together. They were together when I stopped reading, at least. |
I'm a little behind on the show, so maybe they do end up together in the end. But so far they've just had a brief romance in season 1 and then Lou went off in another direction.
TV shows that are based on book series are pretty bad about deviating from the books after the first season or two. True Blood is virtually unrecognizable from the Sookie Stackhouse series after about season 3. |
My guess is if it has deviated from the books, they'll make Amy and Ty endgame - I do know that they don't end up together in the books,

Yeah that's very different then because

I sort of figured Ty and Amy would be endgame. I do hold out hope for Lou and Scott. Although on the show Lou is sort of high maintenance and I'm not sure the Scott on the show is really ready for that.

She definitely whined (mostly to Jack and Amy) about how being at Heartland was affecting her aspirations in the books, but the "woe is me" stuff was definitely more Amy. She also let Ashley get to her ~way~ too much (I didn't care for Ashley even as a nemesis because at least in the books she was very cliche) and was very melodramatic in general, at least in the first 15 or so books. I seem to recall her getting slightly more chill and willing to accept that she's not perfect in the later ones.
|
Heartland is one of those shows where it feels like in the later seasons they couldn't quite figure out how to keep it interesting and they just sort of threw out plots to see if anything would spark.
Not sure if I expressed that well - it just feels like there isn't a good flow to the stories anymore. |
