Well, Jane's been Female Thor in the comics since 2014. Don't know why they decided to do it in the movies as well, but it is what it is.

Thor and Valkyrie did flirt in the movies, but that's all I thought it was. Tessa said Val was bi in the movies and I felt that she never really got over losing her lover during the fight with Hela. Thor and Val had more chemistry than Thor and Jane for sure though.
