I think instead of telling Brianna "Of course I did" when she asked if Claire loved Frank,she could have just said that things were complicated. I feel like she was lying to her about being happy when she wasn't. I'm still mad at her and the only thing I think Frank did that was messed up was threaten to take Brianna and give her grief for med school and work. Even if it means she spent less time with her family, he used to support her career. They know that she's a doctor and Brianna wasn't mad.

It will always be s**ty that Claire gets her happy ending, but Frank didn't get his. I had kind of hoped that she could love both of them when she came back. I mean,Frank was being dumb about her closing her eyes, but I wanted them to have a shot together.

She wanted Brianna to believe her parents were happily married though. it's also what Frank wanted too. With him being dead, Claire just respected his wishes.
