it's hard when there is so much going on... and so few episodes.. I feel like maybe if they did 19 or 20 eps in a season, there would be more time to properly work out some of these storylines.. but what do I know? Maybe everyone would get bored and wander away...

I think in the beginning they didn't explore much of his backstory so he was just there which is why I couldn't appreciate him.

No, they didn't. Again, there is always so much going on, ,and so many characters and so few episodes...I'm amazed that we get as much as we do.. but he sure got Gail all revved up.. maybe they were onl y thinking he would be temporary - just to show a bit of how Gail got to be how she is.. but I think he became very popular very quickly..he seemed to be more 'normal' than the others..less...damaged? ( my opinion) and when we found out he was an orphan and a bit of a delinquent
