Salem 2x05 - "The Wine Dark Sea" Episode Discussion (May 3rd)

The Wine Dark Sea (2x05)
May 3rd, 10/9c on WGN America

Following Mary’s public chastening, the recently-minted Magistrate Hathorne steps up his bid to wrest power over the citizenry of Salem from her, forcing Mary to once again compel her bewitched husband to take action. When Hathorne levels a not-so-veiled threat against Anne Hale – which he mitigates with an unappealing solution - it prompts the young Witch to seek Mary’s council. She receives sound advice... but it comes at a fearful and unappealing cost. Mercy Lewis’ grisly preparations to enact her revenge reach new heights, drawing two reluctant participants closer in the process, and forcing the hand of one of her increasingly tenuous allies. Meanwhile, as John Alden continues to pursue his righteous task, his search for answers yields valuable results, and Mary takes the fight directly to her newest foes... with surprising results.

This episode scared me. I'm somewhat desensitized like most of us are,but Salem never fails to freak me out with the grosses and scary stuff. As icky as Mary being willing to sleep with George was( ), she's so screwed without him. She'll have no power and the perry doctor can't save her.

Lucy Lawless is killing it, although I hate all the incest this season.

I'm worried about Anne-She keeps wanting to be good, but she can probably kiss her soul goodbye. John will kill her before he kills Tituba. Hopefully he kills Mercy soon, but I had a bad feeling about Anne. :-/

I have a feeling something will get in the way of him killing Anne - he seems to be really being affected by the "gifts" that he was given and the way we saw him last week it was taking its toll.

I do want to see what happens when he kills a witch but I have a feeling Mercy will be the first to go before anyone else.

She needs to just die already. Eating Issac? Wtf?

Dolly is gross for kissing a pox-ridden man,but Mercy is insane. I still don't get how she killed 3 natural witches. They should have been able to kick the asses of a bunch of neophytes.

Mercy has creeped me out since the beginning but now she's just pure evil for the sake of evil. I get that they're all witches but even witches have rules and a hierarchy. Mercy needs to go.

Which episode did Mary take her in? I missed it and can't figure out which episodes to watch.

Episode 5 in season 1 was when she first approached her and after that she was mentoring her.

I love Elise and she does a great job, but yeah - I think of all the witches she needs to go and probably will. She is so unstable. Unless of course she manages to get herself under the protection of Marburg, then Mary won't likely be able to touch her.

She is too unstable even for Marburg.
