They really did. Cora loved Regina in her own twisted way, but she always put her own desires first.

well in the beginning i really think that without her heart she didnt REALLY love her. i mean yes she probably did as much as she could without her heart but if regina had died trying to become queen it wouldnt have made cora too sad about her daughter.. just sad that she didnt get the crown... does that make sense?

Yes it does. I agree that her main goal was the crown and I think she would have sacrificed anything or anyone to get it. The thing I always wondered is, if she wanted it so badly, why didn't she just kill Henry Sr after she killed Eva and marry Leopold herself? I guess maybe the king couldn't marry someone who had been married before? I get from the writers standpoint, it wouldn't have worked for the story they wanted to tell, it just seems to me like if she could have had that position for herself, she would have preferred that. The whole thing makes my skin crawl. I can't even read fics that have Leopold in them.
