Was shocked with the ending. I swear I was speed reading through the last chapters to find out if she comes back.
I'm probably in the minority with this but I felt like the ending was appropriate. __________________

I've read a lot of people feeling that way too, that it made sense for the genre.
 I agree that it makes sense for the genre and would be realistic. But I myself like the happy endings so I was not pleased. |

I think that the book, despite the sad and shocking end, it is wonderful and interesting. I wish the end was different, but what Veronica want to show us, is the value of a person to sacrifice for someone you love.
So I think it's fine. |

I appreciate the realism that Veronica wanted to convey to us about the reality of that society that Tris was forced to live in. By her ultimately choosing to sacrifice herself for her brother really comes to show her true character, that she truly is a hero and divergent (all those qualities combined).
It was sad, and we all want happy endings but I'm happy to know that Tris was at peace with her decision. __________________
