Also, I learned a new word since the strike has begun - picketing. I always thought it was 'demonstrate' (that's the German word) but demonstrate means to show something and wouldn't be quite right - although they're showing their dissatisfaction

It can also be called demonstrating, exactly what you said because they’re demonstrating their dissatisfaction

The word picketing is specifically used when talking about the kind of demonstration which occurs outside a workplace which is the case with the writers strikes.
