got my S1 blu-ray!

So, both the DVD and blu-ray edition have the following special features:

• EP commentary on the Pilot episode, Anslo Garrick Part 1 and Berlin: Conclusion
• Behind the Scenes of Season 1
• 22 Episodes of "Beyond The Blacklist"

However the blu-ray comes with exclusive features of:

• Making the Pilot
• Rogues' Gallery: The Blacklisters
• Character Dossiers: Red, Liz, Ressler, Tom, Harold, Meera, Aram

I'm not sure about DVD, but my blu-ray also came with Digital Ultra Violet download of all episodes

One of the things I found interesting (it was either in the "making the pilot" or "behind the scenes") and they were discussing the character of Red (apparently Spader was the last person casted) and they had a very different image of him at the first conception of the show. He was supposed to be a kind of jacked-up military looking guy with a little bit of salt-and-pepper in his hair and then I guess when James came along they figured they hit the jackpot and changed the character to suit him. Also James had a lot of input into the character and personality and traits etc of Red (for example, James was adamant that Red would always wear hats. Could you imagine Red without his signature fedora?!)

So I guess first conception of the character was kind of "Jim Caviziel in Person of Interest" type character:

But they ended up going a different direction and I'm so glad they did James is beyond perfect for this role!!

Wow, that's awesome that they tailored the character to be like James and that James had input about the character as well. Goes to show how well-respected he is in the business.

Yeah, they were talking about the hat thing and how they were all kinda like "ehhhh... I don't know about that..." but James was like "no, he should wear hats" and they finally caved and agreed to it and now it's like the signature of the show, lol. Mondays on tumblr in the Blacklist fandom are known as "Fedora Monday"'s

Thanks for all the info TeamWilson after hearing that I can understand them being interested in Frank Grillo as Red. But I can't picture Frank as James' Red at all. It was probably for the best. Even with Red's military background and criminal experiences, Red elegant side really makes him his own character and I'm glad he doesn't come off as a menacing one-note type.

James really had a lot of input into his character. I know that some actors on TV shows just read the script and act away, not with James though.

Bokencamp said in an interview that after James receives a script he will call Jon up (like at home or whatever) and discuss it with him for HOURS! lol. He must drive Jon crazy but it definitely pays off in the end I mean, just look at how successful the show is! James has so much input on the character of Red. He even had a big hand in the famous "one more time" speech from Anslo Garrick Pt. 1

At the same time I'm sure Jon really appreciates having an actor who is really invested in the world that Jon created. These are the people bringing the story that's been in his head to life. But yeah at times it's probably like 'settle down, James!'
