episode synopsis

THE FBI BLACK SITE COMES UNDER SIEGE - Donald Ressler attempts to protect Red from a possible assassination attempt but is misled. The newest member on the blacklist, Anslo Garrick, infiltrates the FBI black site and tries to capture Red. Meanwhile Liz gets caught in an elevator and tries to figure out what is going on.

• LOL on this opening sequence in Munich with Red & Donald.
• Red is telling Cooper et al. that there's a mole who helped Anslo Garrick infiltrate the FBI.
• I forgot the reason why Liz was late that's why she was separated from the group. Now I know why.
• So Donald says that Red is his responsibility being an FBI informant so he's going to protect him. Unfortunately he gets shot pretty bad.
• I missed the part where Red said he already put a bullet through Anslo so that's why his face is a bit disfigured.
• Anslo is out to get Red as payback to whatever happened between them 4 years ago? Or was it because he found out he's an informant for the FBI c/o the mole? Or both?
• Cooper instructs Aram to go to the main generator room, hands him a gun and says "Kill anyone who isn't FBI." Uh-oh Aram.
• Liz hears Cooper over the radio and he tells her he thinks Ressler & Red are dead.
• UGH. So much blood. I'm dying at this scene where Red is helping tend to Ressler's bullet wound.
• Haha. Anslo says to Red (regarding Donald): "That leg looks like minced beef."
• Ohhhh. I forgot this Anslo story about Ressler in Brussels where he was in an op to get Red. Seems to me Anslo wants to 'partner' with Red but somewhere along the line he felt betrayed by Red.
• Oh wow, Cooper is firing an ammo! But he gets captured (along with Meera) by the goons.
• GAH. Liz is so badass here.
• Red & Donald have the same blood type. How about that?
• Red is correct, life is ironic. Allies today, enemies tomorrow.
• One of my favorite light moments from this ep, Aram saying "I've only shot at paper."
• Donald says Red was the reason his engagement to Audrey didn't work.
• THIS SPEECH AND JAMES SPADER. I can watch it over and over again. I guess this is the reason why there's a Blacklist.
• OH MY GOD. Red needs to cauterize Donald who's bleeding out. So much blood again. Sometimes I wonder what if Donald died, will Cooper give the passcode?
• Waaaahhh. Anslo killed Luli. I am in shock (again).
• Harold doesn't want to give the passcode and now Anslo has his gun pointed at Dembe.
• OMG that ending and the scene between Red & Dembe.

Hands down, still one of my fave episodes this season. I was nervous, anxious and wowed by this ep. I was really excited to rewatch this ep but seeing as it is one of my favorites, I remember most of what happened. By the time the end credits rolled, I wanted more. Anslo was my favorite Blacklister. Props to Ritchie Coster for playing him like a mad lunatic.

This is the best ep. of S1.The pace,action scenes are great.
I could feel the pain of Ressler when he's howling,gruesome.

I loved this episode so much! The beginning was sad. If they would have just stopped for two seconds and worked with Red they could have avoided the entire situation. Instead they choose to trick Red and realized that they had been had by Anslo too late. Ressler, Harold, and Meera were so smug until they realized how much egg they had on their face from being fooled.

Liz was really awesome in this ep It kind of had a Die Hard feel because she was walking around barefoot and removed her jacket. Her scenes with Aram were great! Aram was really scared and Liz just kinda told him how it was

I am surprised that Ressler did not know that Red knew about Brussels or Audrey. Ressler should have assumed that Red already knew. I would have been more surprised if Red didn’t know honestly.

Red’s speech to Ressler about why he would survive this situation was amazing! Definitely one of his best in the season.

Luli dying was so sad. You could tell how upset Red was. And the Red and Dembe scene was absolutely heart breaking I love that Red tells Cooper he will give him anything if he spared Dembe’s life. And then the gun goes off and the screen goes black

Man, this is and always will be my fav episode of the show ever. The feels by only looking at the episode poster. It's amazing. If I wasn't 100% in love with the show by then I would have been at this point.

The scenes between Red and Ressler was stunning, all of the scenes while they were in there, if with Ressler or Anslo or the others around were amazing and so well acted.

Besides, I loved Liz, she was so badass in that episode. It was her chance to show what she was capable of and she was stunning. And I loved Aram, too... The first episode where we really got to know him I guess.

Favorite episode ever! I loved this one so much. The opening scene with Red and Ressler. Ressler getting shot, well not that I liked that but Red who helped him, who saved his life! Their time in that box was so intense and I think they really needed that to understand eachother better.

The look Ressler gave Liz when Red told him it was time to give up the code or that Liz would die otherwise. Heartbreaking. He gave up the code for her! In that scene I realy felt like he loves her as his partner, his friend. He would do anything for her.

Anslo was hand down freakin' amazing!

It's so funny... It somehow seems to be the fav episode of every single one of us but this thread didn't really get much love Only 8 posts? Really? I can't believe that.

The Ressler/Red dynamic And same about the Liz/Aram stuff... I thought these two parings in the episode soooo amazing!

Besides, it was the first episode that I thought Red hot!

I'm really not sure if he only gave up the code for her... For sure for her as well but for himself, too. He knew Red, he knew that he would shoot him for sure.

Red and Ressler were so amazing! This epsiode made me even love them more.

Ressler have up the code for Liz cause he didn't want her to die. And I think he thought he was already going to die from that massive GSW on his leg so I don't think he cared in that moment if Red was going to shoot him. I am sure Anslo would have killed Liz if Ressler or Red wouldn't have giving the code. You could see the struggle in his eyes cause Liz was signaling him to not give up the code. I am so glad he gave up the code.

Oh yes, I believe that really is the reason I still don't get why I haven't been here much earlier though...

Red and Ressler were great. It was such a fantastic idea that they put these two in the box together
Btw, did I ever tell you that they had to stop shooting this episode because James really was sick and it just wasn't possible for him to continue shooting anymore? Besides, James wanted to carry that munition belt of the machine gun of his own and these things are extremely heavy! He wasn't supposed to do that but he really insisted on doing that

I guess it's safe to say for me that we'll always disagree on that If I recall it right there are no audio-commentaries for 1x10 on the dvd since this happens in 1x10. Otherwise I would have had a look if they say something about his reasons for giving up the code.

If he wouldn't have been worried about himself as well he wouldn't have commented on Red having saved him at first and pointing out that it made no sense to kill him now... I doubt he was thinking he would die.

No I didn't know James was sick during filming. I never noticed anything. It's good though they stopped so he could get better.

Damn now I really want to hear all those audio commentaries!

As far as I know they at fist continued but it became that worse that he simply wasn't able to get on set anymore...

You should get the blu-rays if so because it contains more extras than the dvd box

I am surprised this episode discussion didn't get more love as well. It was one of the best episodes of the season.

We stream everything...... Our DVD player just collects dust...... Apple TV spoiled us......

And yeah, you definitely need it on dvd. Have you only seen the season once, Amy? I'm sure if you did there for sure are so many things that you have forgotten about again.

Anslo... How was he connected with Red? They were working together at some point, right?
