A bunch of stuff. I don't know if this happens where you live, but here we have "concursos públicos", exams which, if you pass, you get a public job. Those are the good paying jobs But there's a LOT of competition, so you need to be prepared. Basically, you need to study a LOT of LAW. Which is what kills me, cause I'm not a fan of law at all Constitutional Law is alright, I like it, it's easy to understand, but today I started Administrative Law, which is THE most boring thing in the world, I can't stand it I also tried studying a little bit of Portuguese, which I already know, but it's still good to revise. But even for that I was lazy

Yes we do (that's a new law that applied last year I think) that's how you become a teacher, right? Here it's like "fighting" for a position. Ugh the law in general is a bit boring! But administrative law is the worst, I don't know how a passed it

Do you have practice exams? Or a guide you can follow?

Don't you use Portuguese on daily basis? I've been learning Portuguese this las few days.

It's the same here, EVERYBODY wants the job

It's the same way to become a teacher in a public school, yeah. That's the job I refused to take this week

This one is for a position as a Social Security worker. Much MUCH higher salary

What's your job, Betty??

You've been learning Portuguese because you want to, or do you need it? That's awesome anyway!

Yeah, and they have to make presentations showing their strategy and plans. It gets messy!

Since she do they do this over there to become a teacher?

Do you have to fight for the job? Good luck Ju!

I don't have a job, I just got a scholarship to keep studying I've had temporary jobs though.

Because I want to! I have a friend that's been teaching me, she's from Portugal and she mention that Brazil and Portugal have a different Portuguese, I was learning the Brazilian one

Here it seems impossible to get ANY job. My husband applied for a second job in our local grocery store and didn't get offered a job. You should see the idiots they do hire though.

^ I think this is true to every place, isn't it? Sucks

To teach at public school you always have to take a test. If you pass, you get the job. If it's a private school, though, you don't need a test, they just interview you and if they like you, you're hired.

For other public positions, you also have to take a test. Sometimes it's just one test. Sometimes there are two phases. It all depends on what job you're trying to get.

Brazil and Portugal have VERY different accents. Some words are different or used with different meanings. But I think the accent is the biggest difference, and what makes it harder to understand, for me at least. Are you enjoying it? What have you learned so far?

That's great! They hired the most capable! Here you could give your position to whoever you wanted even if that person wasn't good for the job

Although that seems fair, it is also tiring! Always studying, how many tests are you going to take?

I've been learning a few key words, she also writes a phrase and I translate it since it's almost the same as Spanish it's easier and fun!
