I think they did a great job showing Mer's loss and how affected she was last season - and still is with last episode's scene.

I think the fact that her and Nathan lost the person they love, they can mention it more, since both know how it feels.

They totally did. Better than I ever thought. Of course, they got zero credit for it and instead bitter people accused the show of "using" Patrick since Meredith was remembering Derek. It really makes your scratch your head about whether these people ever really cared about MerDer at all?!?

But these are the same people who completely hate on Meredith now and judge the absolute crap out of her (because, you know, when you're a MerDer fan apparently you must hate the one who is left when one passes away instead of supporting them ... that really makes sense).

The truth is, Mer has zero choice about what happened to her. None at all. So she has to pick up the broken part of herself that misses Derek and do the best she can to continue living each day. To not have empathy for that speaks volumes about people.
