hey everyone rossif was interviewed a couple of days ago..about his new film backcountry..but unfortunately the interview is in french.i was wondering if there is any of you fluent in french so you can give us a little summary of what he said

Rossif says that his character is a french hunter, they wanted a canadian accent at first, but whenever Rossif tries it, it ends up ridiculous

because he's actually half french (I didn't know that at all

) so they decided to keep his accent.

He plays a character who is visiting his family, and he spends a weekend with his cousin in the forest for hunting purposes. They meet a guy who has two kids who fell through the ice. It seems like that family is going through a hard time, and whenever they try to get help the father of the kids sort of becomes a monster (that was the word used but I think it means that he basically says no and becomes angry

) because he might lose his two kids. That father is an alcoholic, he lost his job, his wife married a very responsable guy and they're going to move to England so he's not going to see his kids anymore, he previously had them for the weekend but since they're moving to England, he's not. One of the kids wants to learn how to use a shotgun, but the problem happens when he meets the hunters (one of them is Rossif) and they want to look for help (I don't know why they're looking for help btw, maybe because they fell through the ice ?), that's when he realises that he might never see his kids again, so he tries to extend the moment with his kids as long as he can, even though it's like a nightmare for his kids, but for him it's a dream because he gets to be with them.

It's Rossif's first time shooting in Sudbury, he was going to do another movie 4months ago, but he wasn't available at that time unfortunately so he didn't. He says that there's a lot of work coming here in Sudbury. He says that Toronto is at its limit, there's no work there anymore. He says he always loved shooting in the snow, because it's beautiful.

He says it's easier to have a job in canadian movies/TV shows than in american stuff, and it was that way ever since he started acting. He grew up in an acting family, he was 22 when he fell in love with this job and his father was of big support to him. It was hard, especially when he had like nothing, no job, no money.. He studied acting in the US, he lived in New york for two years, and then he spent a lot of time in LA, it was a stubborn decision, because he spent one year, it didn't work and he kept trying for 6 more years and it didn't work. He was almost never home, but he sometimes went back to Canada for work, and that's where he actually feels he's at home. He loves Canada and its people.

His father told him to always be true in his acting. He isn't fond of the idea of being seen and being famous. Everytime he shoots a movie and he knows people are going to see his face on screen he gets nightmares

, he loves acting because it's an opportunity to live the life of someone else, and be true and respectful to the story of this fictional character. He says his job is a true gift.

I just realised this is a complete mess, but I hope it's okay
