I've read a theory that she would be Catherine's child from an affair but I don't think it's possible at all. It's rather hard to hide a pregnancy, especially in a time when lots of women died in childbirth.

I really wish she was a ghost. She became way less interesting to me the more obvious it got that she wasn't.

I'm glad she isn't a ghost, personally. I like the idea that there are superstitions, but I don't necessarily want the show to turn into TVD. Nostradamus' visions are different since he actually had them irl.

I don't think Clarissa is related to Mary. She just feels a connection to her because they are both "victims of fate," whatever that means. Definitely curious to find out more.

The whole "victims of fate" thing makes me think that Clarissa wasn't born disfigured but then she got either sick or attacked.

There's certainly going to be a backstory on Clarissa. I'd like to believe Catherine may have to do something with it. I hope.

That's an interesting perspective. I think that would make more sense as well. It would explain why she hides away from people and has an anger towards Catherine because if she was born disfigured I don't think she would feel this angry.

I never thought of it that way. I assumed she was cursed from birth with a defect or something, but I like your theory. Maybe something Catherine did indirectly hurt Clarissa, rather than a blatant connection (like bastard child or the like). Otherwise, Catherine should probably know about Clarissa, and t doesn't appear that she does.
