I'm blind in one eye, but I've been that way since birth so mostly I don't know the difference.

When I was in my 30s, some doctors thought they *might* be able to restore the sight in my bad eye. It's not totally blind, it's just that the vision is so poor that my brain blocks it out most of the time. But the doctors also said there was a good chance that after a lifetime, my brain would not be able to adjust to the change and I could wind up with permanent double vision. While there are some issues, the idea of actually making things worse made me opt not to get that.

One thing that is a pain is that I cannot go to 3D movies. The glasses don't work, because they depend on having reasonably equal vision in both eyes. If I go and try to watch the movie without the glasses, there are weird ghosts. What concerns me about that is theaters may gradually stop offering the non-3D versions.
