FILM SUMMARY
The Bakery is a film about two brothers, Frank and Lou, who run the family business. Set in an antique 1950’s bakery located in the Bronx, the two brothers cherish the family business embellishing it with the images of unforgotten memories of their parents. Lou always seems to get himself into trouble, especially with his gambling. Frank is the more responsible of the two, but at the same time hates the neighborhood and resents being a baker. Frank recently discovered he is going to be a father and his father-in-law has just offered him a job in Florida. Now Frank has to tell Lou that he is going to leave the family business and needs his half of the money invested into the business.
But, Lou has something to tell Frank as well… Lou made one too many bets. By the end of the day, the family business and all his money, including Frank’s half, is going to be taken by Mr. Georgano, the neighborhood “businessman”. The two rack their brains, considering a variety of options to solve the problem while still conducting business. The film is filled with many unique characters and witty dialogue that can only come from true New Yorkers. After a long day of insanity, Frank and Lou pull together along with the rest of the neighborhood to create an ending that will be felt in everyone’s hearts.
