Yeah, from what I've read the story has nothing to do with the first one. So it's not even really a sequel. The first one is so depressing in the end, I'm not sure I want to go through it all again so soon

I've watched a couple of episodes of the Korean Scarlet Heart and it's got nothing to do with the Chinese one. Apart from a few scenes everything is different. Chinese is more realistic and about history. Moon lovers is more modern and action oriented. They're both good. I think it's more a question of taste.

Yeah probably not a good idea to go through the same depressing story. Since the ending for the Korean one had me cry so much I was hoping the ending for the two leads was the same as the Chinese.

I'm not too familiar with Korean history but I felt it was similiar in the sense that the princes were the same in both versions and both versions had the 4th prince being the king in the end I think Moon Lovers was more humour well more so in the beginning before the time skips. It got more serious towards the end of the series.

Yeah the basis of the story is similar but I meant that the way of telling it is totally different. For exemple, the 4th prince is barely present in the first episodes of the chinese version. He's not an outcast, nobody's scared of him (at least in the beginning).

I'm not familiar with Korean history either, I find it a fun way to learn about it. I usually avoid historical dramas.

Not at first no, only towards the end. But then she's barely present in the story as there were no queens in Ancient China. She was just one of the many concubines.

Just started watching Descendants of the Sun and I am so addicted! It's been like 10 years since I've watched a Korean show but I heard that the actress from Full House was in a really good show and I had to watch it. So much chemistry..and they're getting married in real life.
