I think it could lead to more Noel/Spencer. If Noel is with Mona and Spencer shows up (while she is still around the girls), or if Noel is completely innocent, but starts to think Mona is up to something again, he could tell Spencer

It just doesn't make any sense to be that interesting characters like Noel disappear all the time, especially seeing as he is meant to be in school.

The fact that he has been slipped into everything in minor ways makes me wonder. He's connected to the liars, the A team, the B team and NAT, I doubt that's nothing.
