That's a pretty good description of them.
I can see that fitting Lydia perfectly.

The book mostly focuses on Derek/Kate and Scott/Allison, though other characters do interact. There is a lot of Jackson/Lydia stuff, but it's sort of fitting for where they were at the point in season 1.
