I'm not sure he really ever did. I think he just went along with it to eventually try to get Oliver as his heir. Because like you said, he'd have to be really stupid to believe that.

I hate that scene. Thea was pretty much saying she'd pick the man who killed her brother and another 502 people, etc. over the brother who's done nothing but love her.

You know in a lot of ways I think I actually preferred RAG as villain. DD started out good and Neal was a much more exciting actor but the magic crap just became a mess and the nukes thing was beyond ridiculous. And it was too much for the middle of the series. Sure there are other evil people and bad things that can happen but everything is small potatoes compared to the almost nuclear annihilation of the entire world. That crap and the nonsensical magic actually made me miss RAG, lol.

We got so much out of that scene! The sweetest head kiss. And "if it's you asking", which is huge deal coming from Oliver. And she was and still is the only woman he's said I love you to face to face onscreen. Love it!

Of course it had my expectations for their reunion way too high, lol.
