I need to finish up here later. My cat Birdie has to go to the vet today to get his rabies vac. He saw me get the cat carrier out and now I can't find him.

My cat, Paris, used to hide when I was getting out his carrier but know he doesn't care a lot

Birdie was an almost-grown stray when I took him in, so he's not accustomed to amenities like cat-carriers Also, he's terrified of strangers.

Paris has probably learned that the carrier could mean a fun play-date for him.

We're expecting a major winter storm tonight through Saturday. Tomorrow, they say, will be mostly freezing rain. If so, our chances of losing power are high.
If I should disappear for a few days, that's the reason.

I had some friends take me to San Francisco on my birthday. It wa quite nice.

I'm still loving my new job. I've been in training for a new system they will be rolling out on Monday. It's been a month of intense training and testing for this implementation.

I'll be going to see one of my favorite jazz musicians in two weeks. Looking forward to that.

Also, I've been listening a lot to a singer named Darren Hayes. He was the lead singer for the duo Savage Garden. His voice is incredible.

storm update:

Woke up this morning to a blanket of white outside - snow mixed with ice/sleet. Freezing rain now falling on top of it and expected to continue most of the day, turning back to snow this evening.
What a hazardous mix! Some parts of town already experiencing power outages.

aw, back to night shifts, Pari? I thought you liked working nights?

We didn't get nearly as much of an ice coating as the weathermen feared, instead we had mostly sleet today on top of last night's snowfall. Expecting more snow tonight; then the storm system moves on to the north and should be clear of us by midday tomorrow.
Now if we just don't get any Nor'easter winds tonight, we'll have gotten very lucky indeed.

As of this moment, I'm am blessing the gods of Sleet.
