I don't know how serious one can take all the rumours/talk on twitter, but it seems there's quite a buzz that Ian could have a shot at playing Christian Grey in the 50 Shades of Grey movie(s).

Fan is a strong word, but I have read most of them and I can see why Ian being Christian would be good for us, not to mention him.

I honestly really don't want Ian to be cast in that movie, sure it's great publicity but from the bits and pieces I've read about/from the book it's just not a step in the right direction, in my opinion,

Why would that affect Ian's chances? I suppose it increases Matt Bomers chances but still ...

I think Ellis was really rooting for Ian to be Christian, judging from his tweets.

I'm not too big a fan of Ian being Christian, I think in the long run it might just damage his chances to play high-profile interesting characters... Personally I think whoever plays Christian in the end will do it, at least in part, to gather a large fanbase, especially among women. Ian already has that, especially now with TVD, so. I'd rather see him focus on tiny indie film productions, like he has in the past.

That's a fun way of looking at it I've been reading a lot of chapter summeries for 50Shades (because there is no way in hell I'm reading the full thing) and I want Ian as far away from that movie as possible I just, don't want him to be playing this supposedly swoon worthy guy who is actually somewhat abusive, like Anja said, it'll just be for gaining a fanbase and he already has that
Matt Bomer too, though he's hot, he looks too nice to be Christian.
I say lets just not make the movie and concentrate on better books
