There are people who actually work in the film industry who have no idea what an executive producer does.
In television it's the title given to the creator/head-writer/show-runner, and often the show's stars will get an EP credit. This will happen in the first season, if they're already well known, or in the third or fourth if they're not. Writer's can be given an EP credit as well, which usually means they've been given a pay raise. It CAN mean greater responsibility, and creative input on a show or movie, but often times it's just a meaningless title... __________________

Marlon Brando was apparently like that. A full throttle joker on set. But you look at those performances and it's hard to believe he could have been as goofy as his co-stars have said, and yet it's been said repeatedly. __________________
