i need to see it again for a really good review, honestly. i didn't really start my journey with her until she got off the bus in New Orleans, and no one was waiting for her. ouch that hurt and i was instantly relating to her and much sympathetic. she was flawed, hurting, healing in uneven parts, but still had something driving her forward. i'm still confused as to why she kissed James, as what her motivation was, friendly or attraction. even though she says she had girlfriends, she doesn't use a label such as saying she is a lesbian, so she could be bisexual, or just curious, or perhaps it is all confusion in her mind. another great theme is untouched family trauma, perhaps made worse by the trauma from her injuries. i need to watch it again. great film, i do wish there had been a closing scene where they are just walking down the street or something into the future, as friends. but i understand the open ending catharsis too.
