Edith Crawley

Lady Edith Crawley (Born 1892) is the second daughter of Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham and Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, sister of Ladies Mary, and the late Sybil, Granddaughter of Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, sister-in-law of Tom Branson and the late Matthew Crawley; and the aunt to her niece Miss Sybil Branson and her nephew George Crawley. Her father's sister, Lady Rosamund Painswick and her deceased husband Marmaduke Painswick are Edith's aunt and uncle. Also, her mother's brother, Harold Levinson is her uncle. She is second cousins with Lady Rose MacClare, Lady Annabelle and James MacClare, Earl of Newtonmore, and her first-cousin-once-removed is Rose's mother, Susan MacClare, Marchioness of Flintshire, wife of Hugh MacClare, Marquess of Flintshire.

Laura Carmichael

Laura Elizabeth Carmichael (born 1986) is a British actress. She was educated at Shirley Junior School, The Mountbatten School, Peter Symonds College.

Since graduating from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2007, Carmichael's TV appearances include appearing on Downton Abbey as Lady Edith Crawley.She is also a member of The Fitzrovia Radio Hour. Carmichael made her West End debut in Uncle Vanya opposite Anna Friel and Samuel West in October 2012.

Carmichael is the daughter of Sarah, a radiographer, and Andrew Carmichael, a software consultant. One of her paternal great-grandfathers was aviatior Norman Blackburn.

Oh my goodness, Michelle hasn't seen The Lion King and Laura hasn't seen Kramer vs. Kramer. I won't judge them because I haven't seen any of The Godfather movies.

BTW, I hope Edith will be happy in S5 with another man or Gregson but she really deserves some happiness.

Hopefully (and I've been saying this since S1), Edith should have less drama next season. And she needs a man who will love her and treat her right and won't leave her side. With all these failed relationships, I hope Edith will be more careful next time. I'm classifying Gregson as failed for now since we haven't heard from him since forever so I hope this is resolved by the CS.

I felt something wrong with Gregson since I saw him for the first time.
Edith deserves happiness but she has to take the right decisions about her life, she should know that dating a married man wasn't a good idea like with Strallan an old man who survived to a war.

Her heart obviously always wins her over. But then again, I wouldn't have thought Gregson would leave just like that. And even I thought Strallan would be forefver.

We still don't know why Gregson disappeared like that and if he's coming back but I think that If and when Gregson would be back Edith might not want to have him on her life at all despite the fact he's the father of her baby.

IF Gregson won't be coming back for whatever reason I don't think Edith would get involved with another man for quite a while either because she had too many disappointments in the past. Plus IF she were to keep the baby I think she might be a bit busy (even with a nanny. ) .

Plus before she met Gregson she wanted to become a journalist, didn't she? Maybe she'll take that route.

btw- I think I read in one of the S4 previous that an actress playing Virginia Wolf was supposed to join the cast at least for one SL which I thought had something to do with Edith. Maybe it's just me but I don't remember seeing that on screen.

What's up with that? It has taken a backseat this season.

I remember seeing her on an earlier ep but she doesn't have a speaking line though the camera panned to her. I thought she was going to have a solid SL but what happened with that?

She went to London and met Gregson while she attempted to become a journalist so maybe JF felt Edith should become more of a 'romantic' women than a career women?

Oh, I might have to go back and search for the Virginia Wold scene. I thought It was supposed to be part of Edith's SL.
