Switched at Birth General Off-Topic #8: Turtlenecks, Cardigans, and Vests, oh, my!

Time for a new thread! Here are a few of the most recent posts from the last thread, General Off-Topic #7:

My sister from England was here last night, with her mother in law. I was telling mother in law that I love vests and then sister corrected me saying that they're called cardigans

So I might have created the impression that I love other stuff than I actually do I'm sorry

I don't even have one of those type vests Not that I don't like them, they just don't suit my body type.
And I'm totally a skirts & dresses type, I only own one pair of trousers
I prefer over sized, long cardigans

Hoodies and sweatshirts are my favorite, but cardigans are right up there near the top. I did wear vests back when I dressed up more, maybe 15 or 20 years ago. I just don't do that anymore.

Does anyone wear turtlenecks in the winter? I like them for keeping warm, if the weather is really cold. They go great underneath sweatshirts or cardigans.

I'm starting to think about our family's Thanksgiving Day menu. Is anyone else? I think that I want for us to decorate for Christmas and put up a tree, on the day after Thanksgiving this year.

I want to enjoy the twinkle lights for as long as possible! I love them so much.

Any thoughts about fall food and holiday food in general? I love all of the side dishes!

I never wear turtlenecks, they make me feel choke-y.

I'm also not thinking about Thanksgiving yet. But that's because we don't celebrate it

I am already thinking about Christmas though
Dutch tradition for Christmas doesn't involve presents, we don't do Santa Claus
But we usually have dinner with all of the family at someones house. Everyone brings a dish and then we all share.
Husband, kids and I don't really like those meeting ups though Just too much stress and there's always so much expected of the kids; them having to stay in their seats, while we just don't parent that way ourselves.

I have to sing in Church on the 1st day of Christmas. I'm trying to see if we can just go away for a week right after that.
We did that two years ago and that was just perfect!

That sounds like a nice plan for Christmas!

I understand the undesirability of needing kids to stay in their seats and be perfect little adults. Bleh! I avoid those situations like the plague.

I tend to avoid those situations too, but sometimes you just "have to."

In three weeks we are going to spend an entire weekend with the in-laws

I always felt a bit uncomfortable around my in-laws, too.

Hope things go well for you and the family!

The downside is that they choose to raise their children in a completely different way than we do.
And since theirs is mainstream and ours isn't, they expect us to do things like them for that weekend.
Which I'm not gonna

I'm with you!

I don't raise my daughter in a traditional way either, and I believe she has a brighter future because of that. Stay strong! You know what's best for your babies!

Hope your energy returns in a flash, Paula! Sometimes one good night's sleep will do the trick.

Does anyone here do anything for Halloween? What's your favorite Halloween memory, if you have one?
