I want to believe that I'm wrong about the writing and that things will make sense eventually, but there's so much in 3a that doesn't add up. It's not only Hook, but also Emma, who has developed feelings for Hook right after she admitted her feelings for Neal and who she flirted with while she was desperately searching for her kidnapped son. The timing couldn't have been worse.

It would be great if Hook would sacrifice himself for Neal. After all he was partly responsible for destroying Baes family when he ran off with Milah. His story would come full circle if he would save Neal and thereby give him a second chance with his family. Unfortunately I don't see this happening. A year has past and whatever happened between Neal and Hook in this time, it didn't stop Hook from kissing Emma as soon as he found her.

Clearly Hook hasn't changed and never will.

I agree. Hook will never change, but we're all expected to forget what he's done in the past. He and Belle are most likely already friends. She's a nice girl and is not going to hold it against him that he tried to kill her on multiple occasions, just like Emma doesn't mind that he almost got her and Snow killed.

Of course things are completely different with Neal. Contrary to Hook he has commited some really serious crimes, like leaving Emma so she could save and be reunited with her family. That's a crime no one should ever forgive or forget and he should be severely punished for this for the rest of his life.

I feel the same way. I should be used to it by now, but it still makes me angry when I read how he deserves everything bad that's happening to him.

Some people wouldn't have changed their mind about him no matter what, but I really wish the writers would have clarified in Tallahassee and Manhattan why Neal left Emma and that it was August who sent her to jail.

It really does. And even if there's a scene where Neal explains what really happened, people would probably say he's lying.
