They were connected from the beginning - we can see it on the way they reacted against each other. But she was hiding the seeds of her feelings in her subconscious. That notion of him like her partner and friend was stuck in her head, and she didn't allow herself looking at him differently. What she needed was to find out and acknowledge his feelings, and only then she with awareness was observing him "maybe... what if... we...": remember, how she looked at him during their conversation in "A chill day in"? She was eyeing every part of his face... So thrilling! She might have remembered how Tripp was behaving with her, that he didn't care really, and here was Winston, caring and sensitive and "makes her laugh": she was so touched by his congratulations, and only a kiss was needed for her walls to melt..

Good question. I don't think they did. I think they gave Winston a female partner just so his friends would worry about his safety in that first episode. Then later on, they probably saw their potential.

I watched 3 seasons and some of 4th season (2 or 3 times) in January 2015 and began to watch NG again in March 2016. And as I can remember I found Aly interesting from the "Shark", and from "The Right Thing", when I also saw her outside the police station and sighted her prettyness and quality, it's really hard to understand and explain, but she immediately became my favorite I remember I loved her and Winston together, cause they were hilarious and that chemistry of them made it incredibly amusing, I still didn't use to imagine them as a couple, I believe till I heard their "smart cop - dumb cop"-bunter in "Reagan", and straight away I went insane wanting them to hook up My desire was so strong, that I went here, read that you girls wanted them together too, and registered myself
